The world watched as one of the most powerful hurricanes in history slammed into the Gulf Coast of the Florida Panhandle on October 10, 2018. The losses in our neighboring communities are truly staggering and we are left with the realization that the same scene could have played out on our little island had the storm only shifted a few miles in either direction. Since damage on St. George Island was minimal, we are concentrating our relief efforts at our sister church, the First United Methodist Church of Eastpoint. We have received a number of donations and goods are being distributed to those in the community in need from the storm. If you would like to volunteer to help or have items to donate, please contact Joyce Estes at Missions@sgiumc.org.
