Pastor’s Blog January 20, 2019 “Steadfast Love” Psalm 36:5-10 | I Corinthians 13:1-11
Remember reading “The Last Temptation of Christ” by Nikos Kazantzakis (1960)?
Jesus asks John the Baptist while they are arguing over their role in the world. John’s face is hard, his eyes ablaze.
Jesus asks, “Isn’t Love enough?” John answers, “No!” with passion born of anger. “The Tree is rotten. God called me and gave me the ax, which I then placed at the roots of the Tree. I did my duty, now, you do yours; Take the ax and strike!”
Jesus quietly replies, “If I were fire, I would burn, if I were a wood cutter, I would strike, but I am a heart, and I Love.”
Come Sunday and we will try to Love with Jesus because it is the ONLY way to change a world that has lost its way.
