The concept of Wisdom’s Wellspring was born in 2009 after Rev. Alyce Parmer had a conversation with a young woman with big dreams in a dire situation.  Rev. Parmer was aware of numerous ministries that worked to address immediate and urgent needs, but none that could provide guidance and assistance to break the cycle of dependency living.  The conversation with that young woman spurred Rev. Parmer into conversations with others to develop a program that could provide young woman with a hand up so they could live up to their potential. Wisdom’s Wellspring was established as a not-for-profit corporation in June 2010.

After five years of outreach, development, and research they opened their pilot facility in 2014 at the former parsonage for Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church. Wisdom’s Wellspring is an ecumenical ministry that operates as an Advanced Special Ministry of the North West District of the United Methodist Church.  The ministry is led, conducted, and supported by many individuals, churches, and partner organizations, who desire to provide transforming power to disadvantaged women.
