Walking in the Rain

Walking in the Rain post thumbnail image

I gazed out this morning and saw an island pelted with rain, hard rain that seemed insistent on remaining for the entire day.  Dejected, I postponed my daily walk.  Then suddenly, I thought, why can’t I walk in the rain?  Quickly I put on my bathing suit and headed for the beach.  My hair was quickly sodden, my face awash with raindrops, and my body glistened with beads of rain.  It felt wonderful!  I was a child again, walking home from school, splashing in puddles, letting rain fall into my open mouth, celebrating the stimulation of rain falling from Heaven directly unto my skin.  Thank you, Lord, for this pleasure, for the rain that brings growth and refreshment, and especially for reminding me that your goodness extends in all of life’s conditions. Amen.
