Franklin High School SOAR Mentoring Program
During the School year, SGIUMC members participate as volunteer
mentors in the local FCHS SOAR Mentoring Program. As a mentor, you serve as
a model, friend, coach, or guide; someone who wants to help other students be
successful socially and academically; and someone who will take a personal interest in
the mentee's growth and development. This program targets 3rd–6th grades by utilizing
peer mentors and community volunteers like you. Students and faculty chose the
acronym SOAR for the mentoring program because the program’s goals:
· S - Support: Help, encourage, and provide guidance to students through
mentorship.
· O - Opportunity: Create opportunities for personal and academic growth, allowing
students to reach their full potential.
· A - Achievement: Focus on academic success, personal development, and the
accomplishment of goals.
· R - Resilience: Build resilience in students, helping them navigate challenges and
setbacks effectively.
An application and personal ID are required, and instructions are available on the
school website at franklincountyschools.org.
If you are interested in participating or for more information, please contact the church at 850-927-2031.
