The SGI UMC Veterans Ministry
The SGI UMC Veterans Ministry is an outreach ministry of the Church. In addition to assisting
and caring for the veterans and their widows, the ministry’s purpose is to honor the service and
contributions of local veterans by providing updates on veteran benefits and local community
issues, sharing opportunities for continued public service, advocating for veterans’ health and
welfare issues, informing local youth of military service options, and providing an outlet forveterans’ social engagement.
To achieve these objectives, the SGI UMC Veterans Ministry co-founded Veterans REVEILLE This not-for-
profit organization has recently been incorporated as a committee of American Legion Post 106 (Apalachicola).
The SGI UMC Veterans Ministry Chair, Larry Hale, and Secretary-Treasurer
James Donald, continue to lead support for the church while also directing REVEILLE's
outreach activities in partnership with Post 106. It is also noteworthy that SGI UMC Veterans are
major stakeholders and supporters of the local annual Memorial Day (May 25, 2026) and
Veterans Day (November 11, 2026) activities on St. George Island, FL.
If you are interested in volunteering or you are a veteran who wants to connect, please don’t hesitate to contact the church at 850-927-2031 for more information.
